Kids 4 Kids Publishing is beginning our second year as children’s writing crisscrosses the globe to share with other children. Children’s writing carried back from Mphungu Primary School in Malawi during the summer of 2008 sparked a continued interest for children back in Atlanta to improve the process of sharing original stories.

This year we have expanded our writing project into a Visiting Teachers Programme that brought two teachers from Kalanso Espace Education in Bamako, Mali to our school for a 5-week immersion experience. Children, teachers, and the rest of the school community asked questions from our Visiting Teachers almost non-stop! Our knowledge and awareness of the Malian culture grew tremendously. In addition our Visiting Teachers had the opportunity to be exposed to the American culture and school system. Both the Visiting Teachers and our American school community walked away wiser and with greater understanding of the other.

Now it is the American teachers’ turn to travel to Mali! Summer of 2009 will find Kids 4 Kids books carried to Mali by teachers who are more curious than ever about the differences and similarities between our two cultures. Also, Kids 4 Kids Publishing continues to work and strengthen our previously established writing connections in Malawi.

The future hope of Kids 4 Kids Publishing is to actually bring some of our student writers together. -- A dream for summer 2010!
